Ericsson has demonstrated data transfer rate of 5 gigabits per second over a cellular network 5G. This is stated in a statement.
Data transfer was carried out in Sweden, unused frequency band of 15 GHz. The demonstration was attended by representatives of Japanese and South Korean operator NTTDOCOMO SKTelecom.
For record results used an experimental radio and improved technology MIMO (sending and receiving a data stream into multiple antennas). In particular, the creation of new antennas operating over a wider range than the previous ones, and minimize delays in data transfer. Base stations are also designed with a modified radio part.
The representative of the research company IDC Sath Athreya (Sathya Atreya) noted that 5G is not yet approved standard, but has ceased to be just a concept: "Many operators are building strategic development plans, taking into account the introduction of the fifth generation of communications technology."
Previously, the data transmission at speeds of 1 gigabit per second, the company said Samsung. She said that the new technology will allow subscribers to view online content requires a broadband connection at high speeds. It is, in particular, the 3D-HD movies, games, live video ultra high definition (resolution 3840x2160 or 7680x4320 pixels depending on the standard).
Currently the fastest cellular networks are in Russian LTE-A, which theoretically can achieve data rates of 300 megabits per second. In the world, according to the report Ericsson Mobility Report, by the number of LTE-Connections lead Japan and South Korea, where the figure is 30 and 50 percent respectively. According to the forecast of Ericsson, these countries, and North America will be the first to introduce 5G.
