SkyTran - urban transport speed maglev

Company SkyTran, based at NASA Research Center in California (USA), the company signed an agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) on the construction of the test demonstration model system SkyTran Technology Demonstration System (TDS) stretching for 500 meters, which will be built and put into operation in Tel Aviv Aviv by the end of 2015.

The project involves laying a special monorail a few meters above the ground on which to move compact trolley using the principle of magnetic levitation. In theory, such vehicles are designed to carry two people, can reach speeds of up to 240 km / h, while the same model to limit the speed of 70 km / h

To call cabins, passengers can use special mobile application for smartphones and tablets. Boarding and alighting at stations will be located on the branch from the main line: it will avoid congestion, making it possible to move to other taxi without slowing down.

Underlying transport system skyTran idea is to reduce dependence on cars. Once the passenger sat in a capsule after entering the desired destination, it will take him almost to the threshold. This means that Skytran can solve the problem of the "last mile", which are powerless before the other passenger transport system.

Later Skytran be equipped with solar panels that will make the system practically independent from the power of the urban transport system. A magnetic levitation, which is created by the set in each capsule of the induction coil and the magnet inside the rail, the friction force decreases, making the movement smooth and silent.

If the tests are successful, follow them further spread of commercial systems SkyTran. In addition to Tel Aviv, interest in the construction of passenger Skytran expressed and other places in Israel as well as India, Indonesia, Malaysia and the USA.
