Autopilot developed by the Pentagon to replace up to five people

Experts from the laboratory Pentagon - agency DARPA, as reports gearmix with reference to the site wired.com, is currently engaged in the development of a new generation autopilot. This device can replace in the future in military aircraft and five crew members. Man-pilot at the same time will serve as a "supervisor mission", and the team will be able to give a touchscreen.

Development autopilot conducted within the framework of ALIAS. It is a mobile complex, which at the desired settings will support the aircraft in all phases of flight. Moreover, in case of emergencies in the air, the system is able to perform all the necessary actions, thereby reducing pilot workload. Experts said DARPA, the use of the autopilot will significantly increase safety and improve the efficiency of missions.

As reported by the agency in their designs they use the latest advances in autopilot. As a result, the researchers plan to get highly adaptive automated system that will have the ability to move from one aircraft to another. However, she is able to monitor the execution of the mission on all aircraft to take-off to landing. This will be done using the touch interface, and using voice commands.

It will be recalled that a few months ago, U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Heygel during the meeting the Pentagon announced his intention to reduce funding for the agency. Planned use of more efficient technologies, as well as reducing the number of personnel and equipment.
